Should I learn German in a small group or with private lessons?

I haven’t learnt German before, or at least that’s how it feels. Those two years of learning German in school feel like a lifetime ago.

Group lessons are a perfect start to the German language. Since there are so many words that are similar in English, it will be fun to explore them with others. Group lessons are also a great starting point if you have learnt German before but can’t remember anything, though that actually might not be the case. You will see, slowly you will remember many things.

I need a fixed schedule. A routine every week will help me stay motivated and on track. When I know, every Wednesday there will be my German class, I can plan my week better.

We are all creature of habits. Similar to our morning routine that helps us start the day, a weekly learning routine helps us stay motivated.

When I know there is a group of people that do the same thing, it is easier for me to keep going with something I like. I need the pressure of a group. It helps that everyone is in the same boat.

Good point. Some people need the pressure to keep up the motivation after the first few and exciting lessons. You can learn with others and see how they learn. You’ll make friends that have the same interest.

I loved the course I did before, though I would have liked to speak more often, to get my pronunciation corrected more often, but I didn’t feel comfortable in front of the class.

With our private tutor you will be able to practice how to pronounce German words correctly for as long as you want and need. You will learn how to pronounce the German “r” and to tell the umlauts and vowels apart. You will be so relaxed next time you you want to say words like “würden” and “wurden”.

I feel like my German skills are actually pretty good, but I haven’t gotten better in the last months of learning, repeating, learning and repeating. I feel like I will never take that step to the next level.

Maybe you just have hit a wall with the method you have been using since you started learning German. It is pretty easy to fix and to find a new method of learning. Let your private tutor tell you how to stop toying about with German and to learn German the grown up way.
