Your German Advanced Courses in Melbourne

  • Each German Advanced Course will be 1.5 hour lessons one night a week.
  • The course will be completed in either 10 lessons (5 or 6 students), 9 lessons (4 students) or 8 lessons (3 students).
  • The minimum number of students is 3, the maximum number is 6.
  • The course is located in Brunswick, close to the Melbourne CBD, easy accessible via tram, train, car and bicycle.

What to expect in your German course

In our German Advanced 3A Course we will get you ready for reality and wishes as well as sport and health. You will be able to talk about your problems in daily life and what you wish would and could happen. We will learn how to ask somebody for something in the most polite way and talk to others about future possibilities in your and their life.

You will learn how to talk about different kinds of sport, how your healthy diet works, how you try to stay healthy and what health issues you and others are facing. You will learn how to describe accidents and how to ask after someone else’s well-being.

The grammar you will be learning

In our German Advanced 3A Course, we will learn the subjuncitve II of weak verbs as well as haben, sein and the modal verbs (können, wollen, etc.).

We will talk about Wenn – sentences (If I was a millionaire, I would finally learn German), the German indirect speech with questions (He asked if she could learn German.) and how (and when) to use any verb as a noun (schwimmen, das Schwimmen). We will dig deeper into German pronunciation and will also practice German spelling.

German Advanced Course 3A

What to expect in your German course

Our German Advanced 3B course, we will get you ready to start a business and tell others all about it, in German.  We will practice how to talk to others to get something done, about what still needs to be done and what has already been done. You will also learn how convince others about your business idea and how to describe and assess technical developments. We will learn about the way German political news work and how to understand them, chat with others about the news and to give your opinion on them.

We will finally talk what the bad German humour is made of and will try to understand and describe it. We will make up funny stories and jokes ourselves and will get to know common German sayings and idioms.

The grammar you will be learning

We will be talking about the German passive in the present and the past tenses as well as the passive of modal verbs (I was brought home), with and without a subject, how to turn verbs into -ung nouns, pronunciation practice of separable and non-separable verbs, correlative conjunctions (entweder … oder, zwar … aber), word order when using several pronouns, the German pluperfect (I had gone to the shops, before he arrived.), spelling practice.

German Advanced Course 3B

What to expect in your German course

Our German Advanced 3C course, we will be talking about historical events and talk about what will happen in the future. We will learn how to talk about events in our own lives. In addition to all that we will learn necessary vocabulary to talk about politics in the news and prior to elections as well as about promises politicians never keep. We will chat about our own presumptions regarding people in our own life and will talk about our own life in the future.

We will learn how to describe theatre performances and movies, will talk about literature classics and how to easier understand them. We will also talk about cultural habits in general, what we think about modern art and try to express our own ideas.

Daily life will also be an important topic of this course. We will learn about commonly used idioms and how not to miss the punch line in your own story. We will also talk about making mistakes when speaking in German or any other languages.

The grammar you will be learning

We will learn about the German future tense as well as the subjunctive II in the past tense. We will talk about the different ways of saying that you don’t need something and other zu construction (nicht brauchen zu, haben zu, sein zu), the use of the participle I and II (the sleeping dog, the burnt food). We will also talk about the indirect speech in German and their workarounds.
